Jill Ann Riess, P.A.-C, RNA

Jill Ann Riess, P.A.-C, RNC, is a Physician Assistant and a Registered Nurse and made the career choice to specialize in the field of elder care more than 30 years ago. The Physician Assistant is specifically educated to elicit historical data and facts of patients with problems, to perform physical exams related to these complaints, and assess this information to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient.

A Physician Assistant is college educated, and must be Nationally Board Certified by an intensive written examination, and then maintain this certification by written re-exams and continued medical education, documented every two years. Mrs. Riess also continues her nursing licensure and advanced nursing certification in Geriatrics.

Her years of experience in geriatrics includes supervision and nursing management as a Director of Nursing for 5 years at a 100 bed Skilled Nursing Home; Patient Education Co-ordinator and Physician Assistant at a WSU Physician's Residency Program health clinic; Home health care assessor for the Passport program for the Area Agency on Aging; before joining the Family Health Center in 1995.

Mrs. Riess has professional and personal experience in caring for the elder adult, currently, providing assistance and caregiving for her Aunt, and was primary caregiver for both her parents. This experience is invaluable in understanding the responsibilities associated with aging family members and their needs.

She is the mother of three adult children, who live out of the area and she enjoys their visits, and their career and personal successes, and vacationing together in the summer at their Michigan cottage.
